The Penn Traffic Building was built in 1908. Listed below are some of the major improvements that have been made to the building in the past twenty (20) years. Building renovations are done to ADA standards.
- Fire alarm system installed (simplex 4100)
- Domestic hot water heater installed
- Domestic water line improvements made
- All exterior windows on front and sides have been replaced with triple panel energy efficient windows with mini blinds between the glass
- Exterior of building has been cleaned and waterproofed
- New roof installed
- Handicap ramp installed
- Card access system installed
- Digital control system installed (Barber Coleman)
- Steam boilers retrofitted
- New dock roof completed
- New steam boiler installed
- Asbestos removal performed
- New return air shaft with fire smoke dampers installed at each floor level
- New passenger elevators installed
- Replaced two (2) freight elevators
- Replaced 200HP supply fan motor with variable speed drive
- Replaced return fan with variable speed drive
- Remodeled the fan room including new air dampers
- 2- 250 ton chillers installed
