Penn Traffic Building History and Upgrades

The Penn Traffic Building was built in 1908. Listed below are some of the major improvements that have been made to the building in the past twenty (20) years.  Building renovations are done to ADA standards.

  1. Fire alarm system installed (simplex 4100)
  2. Domestic hot water heater installed
  3. Domestic water line improvements made
  4. All exterior windows on front and sides have been replaced with triple panel energy efficient windows with mini blinds between the glass
  5. Exterior of building has been cleaned and waterproofed
  6. New roof installed
  7. Handicap ramp installed
  8. Card access system installed
  9. Digital control system installed (Barber Coleman)
  10. Steam boilers retrofitted
  11. New dock roof completed
  12. New steam boiler installed
  13. Asbestos removal performed
  14. New return air shaft with fire smoke dampers installed at each floor level
  15. New passenger elevators installed
  16. Replaced two (2) freight elevators
  17. Replaced 200HP supply fan motor with variable speed drive
  18. Replaced return fan with variable speed drive
  19. Remodeled the fan room including new air dampers
  20. 2- 250 ton chillers installed

WW1 era photo
